Our History

The Tallahassee Capital Chordsmen were founded in 1966 as the Tallahassee Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Singing in America, SPEBSQSA  (Now the Barbershop Harmony Society.)

They went on to present their First Annual Night of Harmony on March 11, 1967, and have continued every year until 2020, when the COVID19 forced  cancellation.

The Chordsmen were the first group in the Tallahassee area dedicated to the acapella form of music, and further committed to the Barbershop Harmony niche.  The have performed throughout the Tallahassee and surrounding counties.  In addition, during election years, they have been featured on WFSQ television "Bandwagon" debates.

Their quartets have been active iin all seasons, with featured performances at annual shows, assisted living facilities, holiday concerts and festivals, Valentine Day serenades, anniversaries, office parties, and local TV & radio features.
